LAHORE - Adviser to Punjab CM on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique has lauded the services of Lady Health Workers (LHWs) in prevention of diseases, Mother and Child Health Programme and anti-polio campaigns.
“All the promises made with LHWs will be fulfilled, as we have already started work on their service structure,” the adviser said while presiding over a meeting here on Saturday.
The meeting reviewed the matters related to the service structure of Lady Health Workers, their capacity building and job description, and to give them status of civil servants.
Health Secretary Jawwad Rafique Malik, Health DG Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Special Health Secretary Gulzar Shah, IRMNCH Additional Director General Dr Pervaiz Imtiaz and the officers of law, finance and P&D department also attended the meeting.
The health secretary said recruitments would be carried out on the vacant seats of Lady Health Workers, purely according to the criteria and the rules and regulations. He directed the concerned officers to take necessary steps in this regard.
Khawaja Salman said the government would give status of civil servant to the LHWs and summary has already been sent to the chief minister. “The training courses will be prepared for capacity building of the Lady Health Workers and Monitoring & Evaluation Mechanism will also be evolved to evaluate the performance of Lady Health Workers.”
Appreciating their services, he said the lady health workers are rendering tremendous services for spreading health message among the masses. “Creating awareness about the diseases and hygiene in the rural population, especially of Mother & Child Health and conducting anti-polio campaigns is a huge success, which became possible with LHWs’ help.”
