KASUR-People belonging to all walks of life ripped to shreds the district administration for its failure to protect the lands of graveyards in Kasur from the land grabbers.
During a survey, residents of different localities told this correspondent that the land mafia, allegedly with the connivance of officials and Patwaris, is grabbing the lands around Kot Usman Khan and Baba Kamil Shah graveyards where, they have established shops and houses illegally. Similarly, the malpractice is being carried out at the lands of Basti Charagh Shah, Baba Eidy Shah, Purana Lorry Adda graveyards where these land-grabbers are illegally constructing shops and residences to establish their permanent occupation.
They informed that the mafia, backed by some influential persons, has started building boundary walls at the lands. “Despite repeated complaints and protests, the district administration has turned a deaf ear to the issue and deliberately allowing the land-grabbers to establish their permanent occupation,” they regretted, adding that the parliamentarians seldom available to address the grievance of the people.
They demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Kasur DCO Ammara Khan to look into the matter and order the construction of boundary walls around the graveyards so that it could be secured from the clutches of land mafia. They also demanded retrieval of the land of the graveyard.
When contacted, DCO Ammara Khan did attend the call.
Protest against Indian atrocities
at Ganda Singhwala
A large number of citizens, flanked by politicians, traders and farmers staged a protest against Indian atrocities being committed in the held Kashmir near Ganda Singhwala border here the other day.
The participants shouted slogans against India for creating a war hysteria, condemning the Indian blame game for holding Pakistan responsible of Uri attack without any solid evidence and threaten to waging water war against Pakistan.
Addressing the participants, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodul Rasheed said that the government should respond to Indian threats in a befitting manner. He reiterated the pledge that the entire nation is ready to back the armed forces if a war is imposed on Pakistan.
To a question, he said that the Kashmir Committee did not play any effective role to apprise the world of human rights violations on larger scale in the held Kashmir. He also expressed grave concerns over the arrival of MQM London office bearers in Karachi. “It has been proved that the MQM’s London chapter works for Indian RAW and their activities must be banned in Pakistan,” he stressed.
Kissan Ittehad leader Ayub Khan and others also spoke on the occasion.
