Indian troops martyr youth as Kashmir observes shutdown

In Indian-Held Kashmir (IHK), Indian troops martyred another youth in Puwlama district, in their fresh act of state-terrorism on Thursday.

The youth, identified as Showkat Ahmad Butt, was killed by the personnel of 50-Rashtriya Rifles of Indian army and Special Operation Group during a cordon and search operation at Dougam Kakapora area of the district.

Four Kashmiri youth have been killed by Indian troops in less than two days since Wednesday morning. Earlier, three youth were killed by the troops in a search operation in Srinagar, on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, complete shutdown is being observed against the killings, arbitrary arrests, and attack on journalists by Indian forces. Call for the strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

All shops, other business establishments and educational institutions are closed while traffic is off the road.

The authorities have suspended internet and mobile services in different areas of the Kashmir Valley. Stringent measures have been taken by the authorities in Srinagar and other parts of the valley in the name of security to prevent anti-India protests.
