ISLAMABAD - With the approval of extension, project of the Federal Government Services Hospital (FGSH), the hospital administration is gearing up efforts to get the hospital affiliated with any leading university to make it a post-graduate teaching institute. Earlier, the tussle between CDA and FGSH on the issue of the shifting of the hospital building to the adjoining Argentina Park was considered a big hurdle in making Polyclinic a degree-awarding institute. The hospital has already been issued the NoC in this regard and the departments of Pediatrics, Medicine, Gynecology, Surgery and Pathology are already affiliated with the College of Physician and Surgery. As according to the criteria set by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, the hospital needs to have enough area for getting the status of a post-graduate teaching hospital, as every department needs to have enough space for teaching purpose, the official further commented. Due to short space the hospital was not able to provide number of important medical services including the CT scan. Two weeks ago the hospital administration was allowed to use one-third part of the Argentina Park. On the other hand, the hospital administration has also prepared the PC-1 of the said project. Soon after Eid the summary would be sent to the Ministry of Health and after its approval, it would be submitted to the Planning Commission for approval, said a hospital official while talking to TheNation. The hospital administration is trying to get the hospital affiliated with start of the construction of the new building so that till completion of the project it would also get accreditation from PMDC, the official further maintained.
