Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) has done a commendable job in beautifying Lahore. A former chairman PHA had once announced that he would turn Lahore into the bougainvillea city but he was transferred to Islamabad before he could turn his resolve into a reality. The Traffic Engineering and Planning Authority should take a cue from former PHA chairman's resolve but they seem to be turning this city into a cat's eye metropolis. There are hardly any streetlights available to light the city roads at night due to frequent power outages but the cat's eyes are almost ubiquitous to compensate for the absence. They have practically replaced the missing lights. -DR SHAHID QAYYUM, Lahore, via e-mail, September 3.
