Security for Chand Raat, Eid reviewed

ISLAMABAD - Security and traffic plan for the Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr was reviewed and finalised at a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed, here on Thursday. The meeting was also attended by SSP of Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, SSP (Traffic), assistant commissioners, magistrates and traders of various markets. The participants of meeting were informed that the ICT Administration and Islamabad Police had chalked out comprehensive foolproof security and traffic arrangements for protection of life and property of the people at Chand Raat and during Eid days and special security arrangements have been in place for markets to ensure the protection of residents visiting markets for shopping purpose on Chand Raat. The SSP (Traffic) informed that special traffic arrangements were also in place for smooth flow of traffic on Chand Raat. Traders also assured the administration that they would especially ensure deployment of private security guards at the markets during Eid days to ensure protection of life and property of the peoples. Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed asked the participants of meeting to ensure that all security arrangements should be in place specially on Chand Raat and Eid days. Traffic plan for Shabina, Jumatul Wida Meanwhile, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have chalked out a comprehensive traffic plan for three days Mehfil-e-Shabina and Jumatul Wida at the Faisal Mosque. From Thursday evening, routine traffic has been closed towards Faisal Mosque from Faisal Chowk. The motorists can park their vehicles from Faisal Chowk to Jatoi Chowk and western side of PN Zaffar Chowk. The SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeeen Masood has devised this special traffic plan for the convenience of the motorists coming to Faisal Mosque for Mehfil-e-Shabeena and Jumatu Wida. The motorists on Friday are only allowed to come near Faisal Chowk and then park their vehicles in the specified parking areas. The VIP parking area is specified at western side of the mosque while the other parking area is specified from Faisal Chowk to Jatoi Chowk and western side of PN Zaffar Chowk. For public transport vehicles, parking area is marked from Faisal Chowk to Nawaz Chowk green belt towards F-7 and Nawaz Chowk towards Zaffar Chowk green belt. The SSP said that this traffic plan has been devised to ensure smooth flow of traffic and ensure maximum convenience to the faithfuls. He urged the road-users to cooperate with traffic police to avoid any traffic mess. Meanwhile, Islamabad Capital Territory Police has also made comprehensive security arrangements and deputed 150 police officials for the security of faithfuls. Special walk-through gates are also installed while police patrolling would also be ensured. Nine checking points have been specified for the security purpose and the policemen have been asked to maintain extra vigilance.
