ISLAMABAD - The process of annul elections of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry completed successfully on Friday, and Mahfooz Elahi was elected unopposed as President ICCI while Tauseef Zaman and Adil were elected as Vice Presidents of the Chamber. Mahfooz Elahi, Tauseef Zaman and Adil Anis submitted papers for President and Vice Presidents of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry respectively and declared successful as no other candidate submitted the papers for these seats. Nasir Khan, former president ICCI, was chairman election commission whereas Jamal Abdul Nasir, former senior vice president, and Muhammad Hussein, former vice president, performed the duties as member election commission. 10 candidates of Founder Group have been elected unopposed for the seats of Executive Committee from Corporate and Associate Class. For the reserved seat of women entrepreneurs, only the candidate of Founder Group submitted nomination papers and remained successful. Zahid Maqbool, outgoing President ICCI, said that newly elected team would be having big challenges to play its role to look after the problems of traders and industrialists and to provide feedback to the Government to bring out of economic crisis. Munawar Mughal, Chairman Founder Group, said that the candidates of Founder Group had been elected unopposed for the last 5 years on the basis of excellent performance whereas the business community fully supported Founder Group on its exceptional performance. He further stated that Founder Group nominated the candidates on purely merit and elected candidates should play their role to uplift the ICCI.
