ISLAMABAD - Richard Holb-rooke, US Special Envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan, said the prevailing situation was a challenge for Pakistan adding that the US would stand by Pakistan in this hour of need. Discussing the current flood situation during his meeting with NDMA Chairman, Lt Gen (Retd) Nadeem Ahmed, Richard said that US would continue its support for the flood- affected people in the country. In the meeting, Chairman briefed Holbrooke about the ongoing rescue and relief operations in the affected areas. Apprising the US envoy of the relief and rescue activities, Chairman, NDMA lauded the substantial aid extended by the US for the victims of this calamity and expressed hope that this cooperation would be continued until the sufferings of the affectees were alleviated.
