Let us not waste money

It is very encouraging on part of Khadam-e-Aala Mr Shahbaz Sharif that the positions-holding Matric or Intermediate students from all the 12 boards across Punjab and other provinces have routinely been awarded cash prizes and offered guard of honour as VVIP State Guests, ever since he took over as Chief Minister. This year also the CM awarded the students from all over the country heavy cash prizes and announced to facilitate their admissions in the top colleges, promised to take them to stay at Murree for three days as a state guest, and send them on eight countries study visit abroad. This is really a great honour. According to a Pindi Board official, the position-holding students are now being taken to Murree from tomorrow (Sept 19) and I believe, given the situation emerging out of the dengue disease in Lahore and Karachi, floods ravaging parts of the country and ongoing deadly wave of killing innocent children and citizens through suicide bombings, terrorist attacks, US drone strikes and border incursions from the Afghanistan side, Khadam-e-Aala should announce cancellation of the Murree trip, because he is day and night busy in visiting hospitals, affected areas and families to console and help them. Instead of we the students enjoying leisure trips at a time when our brothers and sisters, youth and elders are fighting their bid for life, must contribute and channelise our energies towards joining the hands of Chief Minister Punjab to help save as many as lives we can of the dengue victims or flood affected people. A position-holding student of the Rawalpindi board, Rawalpindi, September 17.
