OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The Lahore Development Authority on Saturday directed all the private housing schemes of the City for carrying out anti-mosquito spray and fogging with a view to curbing the menace of dengue. According to a press release, two special teams, headed by Deputy Directors of the Metropolitan Planning Wing of LDA, comprising other officers and staff, visited as many as 21 private housing schemes in the City during the past two days for ensuring anti-mosquito spray in these areas. These teams had urged the developers and sponsors of these schemes for arranging and repeatedly carrying out spray in these localities. Meanwhile, fumigation and anti- mosquito spray was carried out in the building of LDA Plaza situated on Egerton Road. Meanwhile, Lahore Development Authority Director General Abdul Jabbar Shaheen inaugurated a 'Dengue Diagnostic and Treatment Centre at LDAs Township office on Saturday. The Centre has been established at a cost of rs 2 million where facility of free blood testing has been extended to the general public. LDA Senior Medical Officer Dr Nisar Ahmad said that the Centre will function from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. He said besides posting paramedical staff comprising two laboratory technicians, two lab assistants and two nurses, five beds have also been provided in the Centre for treatment of patients suffering from dengue fever.
