ISLAMABAD (INP): US Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs Carlos Pascual has said that his country is extending assistance to Pakistan in different energy projects that will add up to 1,000 megawatts electricity to the national grid by next year. Inaugurating a recently renovated power generation unit at Tarbela on Saturday, he said the projects include rehabilitation of thermal power plants at Jamshoro, Guddu and Muzaffargarh and co-financing construction of Gomal Zam and Satpara dams. He said renovation of Tarbela Dam is part of a $16.5 million project that the US government is conducting in cooperation with Wapda.
