Four alleged dacoits were killed in two separate shootouts with police in different areas in the wee hours of Thursday. Three other dacoits managed to escape the scene.

In Rahim Yar Khan, three dacoits were killed while three others fled the scene during an alleged shootout with the police on Thursday.

According to police sources, six armed robbers stormed into the house in Niazi Colony. At which the owner Abdul Majeed called in the police for assistance.

As soon as the police team reached the spot, the bandits started indiscriminate firing on them. The police retaliated and a shootout ensued which continued for quite some time. As a result three robbers were killed and three others escaped from the scene.

The police confiscated two pistols and a stolen motorcycle from the possession of deceased dacoits.

In Sheikhupura, an unidentified highwayman was killed in a shootout with the police on Thursday. Two others dacoits escape scene of the shootout with the Safdarabad Police late the other night.

According to the police, three highwaymen had set up a picket on Sangla Road were looting motorists. Following information, the police reached the site but the outlaws opened fire on them.

In retaliatory firing a robber was killed while two others escaped, taking advantage of the darkness. The police did not reveal identity of the deceased outlaw till filing of this report. The police shifted the dead body to hospital for identification and medico-legal formalities. Further investigation is underway.

Two die as jeep falls into ravine


Two persons were killed and another sustained injuries when a jeep fell into a deep ravine at Toban Gali in Haveili district of AJK late the other night, police said.

The Mandhar town-bound jeep was on the way from Forward Kahota when met the mishap while negotiating a sharp turn. The deceased were identified as Khursheed Khan, son of Muhammad Khan Rathore, a resident of Mandhar and driver Muhammad Shabir, son of Wali Muhammad, a resident of Fathepur. The only injured was identified as Baber Khan, son of Khan Bahadur Khan Rathore who was admitted to a local hospital.
