A PTI candidate for LB election yesterday gunned down a man over dispute on displaying panaflex advertisement for election campaign. The incident occurred in Patiala Colony on Thursday.
Sheikh Imran, a resident of Patiala Colony and a PTI candidate was displaying a panaflex advertisement for election campaign in the colony. However, the deceased Umar Farooq, 22 a resident of same locality, prohibited him from displaying the panaflex advertisement.
They went into argument which flared up and suddenly Sheikh Imran fired gunshots on him. He sustained two bullets in the head as result he died on the spot.
The death sparked a protest by the bereaved family and locals. They placed the body on road and blocked it for all kind of traffic, demanding immediate arrest of the assailant. However, after negotiation with the police, the dead body was shifted to nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities. Later, it was handed over to the heirs. The police have registered a case and started investigation with no arrest till filing of this report.
