Rawalpindi - Taking notice of phone calls being made by extortionists to traders for extortion, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja yesterday directed the City Police Officer (CPO) to constitute a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to bust the network of extortionists.

He ordered CPO to include the expert investigation officers and IT experts in the JIT to trace out the gang of extortionists so that they could be brought to justice. He said that the traders should also be provided with adequate security. “The JIT should task to bust the gang of extortionists and to present investigation report with RPO Office on daily basis,” Wisal Raja directed.

Meanwhile, RPO instructed all police offices of Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock and Chakwal to make foolproof security arrangements to guard the mosques, Imbargahs and other worship places of minorities. He said that trained cops equipped with automatic weapons along with the volunteers should also be deployed at all rooftops and vintage points of mosques and worship places of Ahmedis and other minorities. “The deployment should be as per decided schedule,” he said.

He said that the barriers and obstacles should be installed at the entry points of the worship places to avoid any untoward incident. “The administration and police should also install CCTV cameras on gates to monitor the movements of suspicious elements,” RPO said adding that the security should be strengthened around the mosques where big gathering would be held. The parking lots should also be made at a good distance from the mosques and worship places, RPO directed.
