An unidentified offender sprinkled acid on a woman in her house on Thursday.

Sara Semab, 35, wife of Shahbaz Sikhani, a resident of Shahdan Lund situated in the jurisdiction of Kala Police, sustained critical burns in the attack. She was rushed to Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan. However, she was referred to Nishtar Hospital Multan due to unavailability of burns unit in the hospital.

Kala police Additional SHO Muhammad Ismail told TheNation that the police have registered a case and investigation is underway. He said that the victim, in her statement to police, said that she was asleep in her room after doing routine chores of house at around 11am. In the meantime someone threw acid on her face and chest.

A local, on condition of anonymity, said that motive behind the incident is strained relations between the couple. “The victim’s husband has developed affairs with her sister,” he claimed, adding that her sister was present in her house at the time of incident.

Acid attack victim critical


The condition of the victim of acid attack - Nazia Bibi - is critical in hospital while the accused involved in the attack are still at large. Police sources said that the accused Abdul Jabbar wanted to marry Nazia bibi but her parents refused to give her hand to the boy due to his bad character. The accused got infuriated and broke into the house of Nazia Bibi on Wednesday night. “They accused doused Nazia with acid and fled,” police said. The accused managed to escape from the spot while Nazia was brought to Nishtar Hospital with severe acid burns.
