Pending project

This concerns the project of provision of electricity to Mubarak village, which has been stopped by concerned departments for the past four years. Poles, PMTs and electric wires were installed in roughly half of the village but the other half was left to live in darkness. Efforts had been started for provision of electricity in 2009, when former Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had announced transforming Mubarak village into a model village.

Mubarak village is Karachi’s second largest fisherman locality, but has no basic facilities such as jetty, gas, health or education. Mubarak village is 30 km away from Karachi city with a population of more than 10,000 people. The village dwellers have demanded an inquiry into “the fishy affair”, as to the why development work has been stopped.
