Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has asked Ulema to promote peace and inter-faith harmony, and said that the religious scholars in their sermons need to spread the universal message of love, patience as well as the achievements of Islam.

He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of scholars led by Hassan Kazmi, which called on him in Lahore on Wednesday.

The Governor Punjab said that Ulema and intellectuals will have to promote inter-sect tolerance, communal harmony and brotherhood in the society to eliminate extremism.

Meanwhile, talking to US Consul General Colleen Crenwelge, who called on him in Lahore on Tuesday, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that Pakistan fought the longest war against terror and rendered countless sacrifices for the sake of global peace.
