Police prepare security for Cantonment Board polling

LAHORE  - Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Amin Wains has said that the police would strictly implement the code of conduct during the Cantonment Board’s election to be held on April 25.
The police are directed to take strict action against the violators irrespective of their status or party affiliation. The police would ensure complete ban on aerial firing, display of weapons and no one would be allowed to enter the polling stations with weapon. Also, heavy police contingents would be deployed around the polling stations to maintain peace and law and order during the polling.
CCPO Amin Wains issued these directions on Saturday while presiding over a meeting held at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh to review the security arrangements for the lection of Cantonment Board. Lahore Commissioner Abdullah Sunmbal, DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf, SP Cantonment police division, Returning Officers, and the candidates were also present on this occasion.
While addressing the participants, DIG Haider Ashraf said that there would be complete ban on display of weapons, aerial firing, and hooliganism and the police would react immediately in case of any violation of the code of conduct devised for the Cantonment Board’s election. The police are also ordered to arrest the violators besides registering cases against them in case they would try to take the law into their own hands.
Lahore Commissioner Abdullah Sunmbal said that each and every candidate would be given level playing filed. He said that the district administration would ensure 100 percent implementation on the election code of conduct.
Meanwhile, the CCPO and the Commissioner hoped that the management of the Cantonment Broad and the candidates would extend full cooperation to the police and district administration to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections in cordial atmosphere.
