PESHAWAR - A three-day anti-polio drive kicked off on Monday in high risk districts and union councils of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where the target remained 3.89 million children under the age of five.

According to a data received from the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, total target is 38,91,334 children for which 10,501 mobile teams have been formed.

The number of fixed teams stood at 1014, roaming teams 175, transit teams 588 and the number of area In-charges engaged in the campaign are 2,573, the data reveals.

The campaign has been started in 20 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Bannu, Tank, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swat, Torgher, Swabi, Kohat, D.I.Khan, Lakki Marwat and Hangu.

Similarly, anti-polio drive is also underway in high risk union councils of Buner, Chitral, Dir Lower, Haripur, Malakand and Mansehra districts. EOC Coordinator Khyber Pakhunkhwa Akbar Khan informed that campaign was successfully underway in the province except Torgher, Lakki Marwat and Swabi.

He said that campaign would be carried out in Torgher from April 20 next whereas in Lakki Marwat and Swabi from April 25, 2016.
