While addressing a ceremony at Kohat Signal Management Centre, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif said accountability at every level is essential. “Accountability of all will lead to a united, sovereign and prosperous Pakistan,” he said.

He added that Pakistan Army is ready to offer its cooperation to root out corruption. “Without ending corruption, Pakistan will not become peaceful and strong,” he said. “The disease of corruption is destroying the roots of Pakistan.”

The Army Chief further said Pakistan Army has total cooperation of masses in the war against terrorists. “Terrorism will be combed out throughout Pakistan,” he said.

Pakistan’s political scene has been jarred by corruption allegations following the Panama Leaks, which have accused many leaders, including the Sharif family, of offshore investments.

Even before the Panama Papers’ allegations, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was investigating several senior members of the ruling party PML-N over corruption.
