Rawalpindi - Regional Police Officer (RPO) Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja has expressed his deep anger over delay in arrest of the accused involved in injuring a man and throwing acid on him.
The RPO issued letter of advice to SP Rawal Division Malik Muhammad Iqbal and sought explanation from DSP New Town Circle Raja Taifoor for not visiting the crime scene and showing lack of interest in a crime of heinous nature.
Besides, top police boss issued show cause notices to Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station New Town Chaudhry Shahid and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Tahir Abbas, the investigation officer, for not arresting the culprits despite passage of 8 days, reliable sources disclosed to The Nation yesterday. Wisal directed the SP to hold meeting and evolve strategy to arrest the culprits, sources said.
A resident of Satellite Town Dr Uzma Javed lodged a complaint with police station New Town on April 10 that she along with her brothers Saqib Javed, Suhail and Shafi went to a public park in Satellite Town when three men Aqeel, Laeeq and Shafiq while holding pistols and cricket bats in their hands forcefully kidnapped Saqib Javed.
She added that they brought Saqib to the house of one Saima Butt located at Mohalla Eidgah where the said men along with Rukhsar Butt mercilessly tortured Saqib and later threw acid on him. After committing the crime, the kidnappers threw the injured Saqib near Kali Tanky on Saidpur Road. The complainant sought legal action against the accused.
Taking action, police lodged a case against the accused under section 365/324 of PPC. When contacted, SHO Chaudhry Shahid said that two of the accused namely Aqeel and Laeeq have obtained interim bail from a court of law whereas the rest of the accused went underground. He said that police are raiding at various localities to arrest them.
