Ghosts FC Peshawar won the Red Bull Neymar Junior's Five Pakistan Futsal Championship 2016, after staging remarkable victory against Karachi in the finals played here at Total Football Ground on late Sunday night.

It was fun fare all-around as soccer lovers were gathered at the venue in quite a few numbers and were cheering for all the four semi-finalists, who made it to the last four. After winning their pool matches in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, Ghosts FC Peshawar, Karachi’s Steel Town FC 2, Lahore’s Fantastic Five and Islamabad’s Highlanders Academy teams earned the right to play the semi-finals amongst a whopping 150 teams, who took part in the month-long extravaganza.

In the first semi-final, Karachi beat Lahore on penalty kicks. Both the finalists missed a lot of golden opportunities to take lead, which eventually cost them dearly, as the semi-final fate was decided on plenty kicks. Karachi won the tie after scoring 2 out of 5 plenty kicks, while Lahore failed to score a single goal on 4 plenty kicks.

In the second semi-final, Peshawar defeated Islamabad on penalty kicks. Islamabad was up against Peshawar side. Islamabad had the services of some of the finest players including KRL players and was looking all set to not only win the semis but also the grand final to earn the right to represent Pakistan amongst 40 countries of the world in Brazil.

Islamabad conceded very late goal, but thanks to sensational goal by Asad, they were back in the match. The second semi-final was also decided on plenty kicks. Islamabad and Peshawar missed a plenty each, in sudden death Islamabad missed, while Peshawar scored and earned the right to play the final against Karachi.

The Pakistan champion was decided on the basis of the best-of-three final series. Ghosts FC won the first final on penalties as both the teams failed to penetrate opponent’s defence. Asim, Fawad, Ahmed Nawaz scored for Ghosts FC; whereas Yousaf , Orangzeb and Zonail Gul scored for Steel Town FC2.

Ghosts FC went on a rampage in the second game winning it with a comfortable 3-0 margin. Thanks mainly to star of the show Ahmed, who scored a magnificent brace, while Fawad also chipped in with a goal. Ghosts FC from Peshawar have now successfully grabbed a lifetime opportunity of travelling to Brazil in July this year for the world finals of the Red Bull Neymar Jr's Five global championship, to be staged in Santos, the hometown of Brazilian striker Neymar Jr.
