The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has called upon the chief election commissioner of AJK to immediately summon an all parties conference to discuss the issues related to the upcoming general elections.

Addressing a news conference, PML-N AJK Chief and former premier Raja Farooq Haider Khan, continued that only the chief election commissioner of AJK has the authority to announce the schedule of the elections to the 49 seat of AJK Legislative Assembly. Haider suggested holding of the elections before the month of Ramazan. He also accused AJK Prime Minister Abdul Majeed of intervening in the elections affairs on one pretext or the other.

“This could be called the barefaced pre-poll rigging on the part of the sitting AJK ruling junta,” he observed. He said that Prime Minister Majeed had directed deputy commissioners of all AJK districts for making delay in attesting the under-process electoral lists.

He declared that his party would encounter and frustrate every attempt by the AJK rulers of providing protection to their corruption, malpractices and irregularities before and during the polls. He warned officials of the AJK’s bureaucracy including the heads of divisional and district administrations to refrain from the ill-deeds on the instructions of the sitting AJK rulers.

The PML-N chief welcomed the new entrants in his party and hoped their due effective role to make the party successful with a thumping majority in the forthcoming general elections in AJK due to be held by July 24 this year.
