Islamabad - To review medical curriculum, the regulator of medical education has decided to take all stakeholders onboard.
A meeting of medical curriculum review committee held yesterday on the directions of President PM&DC Prof Dr Shabir Lehri under the chairmanship of Prof Dr Eice Muhammad. The committee deliberated on the need of implementation of modular system and hurdles at various levels being faced by institutions and faculty.
After detailed deliberation the committee constituted a subcommittee to present a document for both modular and hybrid curriculum system before the committee in its next meeting.
The committee will be headed by Maj Gen (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Naveed as convener while Maj Gen Jawad Khaliq Ansari, Prof Dr Ejaz Hassan, Prof Dr Mussadiq Khan and Dr Mussarat Hussain will be its members. The committee will define guidelines at par with the international standards to implement the curriculum considering national requirements to produce good quality doctors.
It was further decided that HEC and expert teachers (representatives) of all universities /DAI’s will also be taken onboard including medical educationalist for implementation of the reviewed curriculum.
The curriculum review committee meeting was attended by the following members: Prof Dr Eice Muhammad (Chairman Committee), Dr Abid Zaheer Farooqi, Prof Dr Mussadiq Khan, Maj Gen (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Naveed, Dr Amir Hussain Bandeshah, Dr Abdul Baari Khan, Prof Dr Ejaz Hassan Khan, Dr Mussarat Hussain, Dr Khayalur Rehman, Prof Dr Ahmad Mishwani, Dr Azhar Ali Shah and Dr Sitara Hassan.
