'Musharraf, cronies should be penalised'

KARACHI - The leaders of mainstream political parties have expressed satisfaction over the resignation of President Pervez Musharraf and termed it as the real solution to all the political crisis which had trapped the country from past several weeks and caused a gridlock in the functioning of government as well as deteriorated economic progress of the country. The vice president of PML-N, Imdad Chandio, said that the fate of Musharraf was written on the wall since February 18 election, but he was engaged in conspiracies to topple down the masses' elected government.   He said that the last speech of the dictator (Musharraf) was the bunch of lies and he did not seek an apology of his blunders and wrongdoings which he committed with the nation. Chandio said that it was the mentality of Army rulers that whenever they committed coup they see the nation as its enemy and started treated in the same way. The nine-year rule of Musharraf was full of massive blunders as the country was going to be collapsed, two provinces were burning, economy was in jeopardy, and law and order situation was deteriorating. He demanded the government that it should do trial of Musharraf under Article 6 of the Constitution. He was of the view that the trial of Musharraf under Article 6 would be a difficult decision for the government but this is the time for testing of the real political leadership and people also wanted that trial. Chandio said that allies and cronies of Musharraf like Sharifuddin Pirzada, Abdul Hafeez Pirzada, Attorney General Malik Abdul Qayyum and President's adviser Tariq Aziz should be brought to justice.
