Data of police guards on VIP duty ready

KARACHI - Intelligence Agencies have prepared a list of suspect police guards, deployed on special duty, and directed the authorities concerned to verify affiliation of guards deputed with high profile personalities, The Nation has learnt here. Source privy to the matter told The Nation on Tuesday that intelligence agency has directed to the Sindh police ahead of the preparation of a list of suspect police personnel and officials deployed with high profile personalities and at sensitive places. Source said that it had been directed to keep monitoring suspicious police personnel, their background and their current affiliation with the political or religious parties. He pointed out that police high ups have directed the special branch police of each town for the monitoring of suspect police personnel while the profile of some suspect personnel have also been sent to the authorities concerned for vigilance. Cops having long beard, those who have sympathy for the Taliban and other extremists organisations, are mostly among the suspect list and their activities will be monitored. It is pertinent to mention here that personnel of law enforcement agencies have previously been found involved in various terrorism activities. The person who carried out suicide attack at Masjid-e-Hydri was a policeman and those persons who hatched the conspiracy to attack former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf convoy were the personnel of Sindh Rangers. While two Army Majors were arrested a couple of months ago who were involved in the murder of Major General Alvi and various other terrorist activities including kidnapping of Satish Anand, a renowned films maker who had been kidnapped for ransom. A senior police office, on condition of anonymity, told that there were number of law enforcers of different agencies who were found involved in terrorist activities. He explained that personnel of security forces have not only caught in Karachi but also in other cities.
