As I read the news of Aung San Suu Kyi's house arrest (12 Aug, 09), I prayed that my own hapless nation may also have such a leader who is ever ready to sacrifice her life for her people, without a sigh of anguish. The very next moment, I thought about our leaders (sorry to use this word) who flee from this country just as the weather changes even as they claim to be Marde Hur, Martyr of Democracy, Quaid-e-Awam, Quaid-e Tahreek etc. I have no objection to using these rhetorical words, but I request their chamchas not to compare them with Nelson Mandelas and Suu Kyis of this world. -WASEEM KHAN, Karachi, via e-mail, August 12.
