Initiative against corruption soon

ISLAMABAD - Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the government after a successful operation against Taliban is soon launching a drive against corruption. Talking to media persons outside the Parliament House on Tuesday, the Interior Minister said he didnt want to spread harassment but it was true that jihad against corruption would start soon. He warned the corrupt officers to avoid indulging in corruption otherwise they would face consequences. He told that a meeting of home secretaries and other high-ups had been called in which a policy would be devised to handle and curb the corruption. He told that after the termination of Chairman Steel Mills, all the contracts of the mill had been seized and investigation was in process. Malik said that a team of seven investigators probing into the killing of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto would arrive Islamabad on coming Thursday (tomorrow). He said the case of Benazirs murder could not be reinvestigated by FIA as it might provide the arrested persons chances for bail. Talking about the death of Baitullah Mehsud, Malik said the TTP chief had extreme resemblance with his brother, however, the government was waiting for final report of the DNA test. He said the law enforcement agencies had arrested a number of suicide attackers. He requested the citizens to avoid renting out their homes without getting proper identification.
