LAHORE - The Pakistan and Horticulture Authority (PHA) is going to construct a modern 'mini golf course at the Race Course Park to ensure provision of more recreational facilities to people. The mini golf course will be constructed in the area of Gate No 3, which has now been closed for visitors. The parking area that was located at Gate No 3 has been shifted to Gate No 1 of the park. PHA DG Rahil Ahmed Saddique told TheNation that launch of project was part of Punjab governments revolutionary programme to promote recreational facilities at all big parks of the City. He said that CM Punjab had approved the proposal submitted by the PHA some days back to build mini golf course at Gillani Park (known Race Course Park). He said that public awareness campaign had been started to make the people abreast about the project. Banners and publicity board had been installed at Gate No 1 in this regard, he added. He said that people had welcomed the project and hoped that golf course would witness great rush of people. It may be recalled that City has already a mini golf course near Liberty Market. People visit it daily in great number. Mini golf course to be constructed at Gillani Park would be the second mini golf course in the City Moreover, PHA has removed encroachments from green belts from Canal, Ferozepur Road to Chungi Amer Suddu. The anti-encroachment squads impounded building material and four-wheel carts of vendors at the green belts of Hameed Latif Hospital, Itifaq Hospital, China Tower, Lahore bridge (sabzi mandi Kot Lakhpat) and adjacent areas.
