Mazari for Musharraf's trial

Karachi (PPI) - Senior politician Sardar Sher Baz Khan Mazari says that the government should take a number of immediate steps including lodging of FIR against former dictator Pervez Musharraf for assassinating Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti to restore the confidence of Baloch people if it really wants to bring them to the talks. Sardar Mazari expressed these views as the chief guest at a Forum entitled Balochistan issue and its solution held at the residence of a politician Najeeb Haroon in DHA Karachi. Naib Ameer of Jamat-e-Islami, Pakistan Prof. Ghafoor Ahmed presided over the session. Former dictator Pervez Musharraf should be nominated in murder case of Nawab Akbar Bugti and the assailants should be punished, Mazari stressed adding that the FIR should also be lodged for the murder of Baloch leaders in Turbat. He also advocated granting provincial autonomy to the provinces under the 1973 constitution saying the federation should retain only the departments of defense, communication and finance while rest of the departments should be handed over to the provinces. Prof. Ghafoor Ahmed in his address supported the demand of Baloch people that the Gwadar port should be given under the control of provincial government. There must be an end to the role of land Mafia in Gwadar and the local people should be involved in development process there. JI leader also urged to call back Frontier Constabulary from Balochistan and putting the law enforcing agencies under the control of provincial government. Dr. Arif Alvi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Ariful Haq Arif of the Forum, Eng. Najeeb Haroon and others also spoke. Later, the session passed a resolution demanding lodging of FIR of assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti, nominating Gen. Pervez Musharraf in it, probing the case thoroughly and bringing the culprits to task. Similar demand of lodging FIR of murder of Baloch leaders in Turbat as per desire of their families. It further demanded recovery of missing people, ensuring human rights for the jailed people and providing shelter to homeless people of Balochistan.
