ISLAMABAD - Haider Abbas Rizvi of MQM, speaking on a point of order in National Assembly, said that MQM had moved an adjournment motion in the National Assembly against the abolishment of the district governments so that the House could have a detailed discussion over the contentious issue. He said that MQM was against the abolishment of this system or delaying the district governments polls. Since the political parties are yet to come up with their views over the issue, we have moved the adjournment motion so that all the political forces may table their respective viewpoints over the issue, he added. He said that the administrators should be appointed for shortest period so that no harm could occur to the system, which provided decentralisation of powers at the grass roots level. The local bodies are a nursery of democracy and any damage to this system would harm the entire democratic system, he stated.
