Samsung wins awards

LAHORE (PR): Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd announced that the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) has awarded the company multiple awards in the following categories: European Smartphone Camera 2014-2015, European Connected Camera 2014-2015and European Multiroom System 2014-2015.

The products awarded this year are the Samsung Galaxy K zoom, the Samsung SMART CAMERA NX30and Samsung M7 Multiroom System, all of which received recognition from the judging panel for their innovative features and impressive design.

The EISA Awards recognise products that demonstrate a winning combination of innovative technology, sleek design and desirable features. The EISA Awards panel of judges comprises editors from 50 consumer electronics magazines across 20European countries.

UMT awards PhD degree

to Ms Farhat

LAHORE (PR): University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore, organized a thesis defense of PhD Scholar Ms. Farhat Munir, Department of Education, School of Social Sciences and Humanities? (SSS&H). Her topic of the dissertation was “Leadership Styles and Students’ Achievement at Secondary Level” and she accomplished this work under the supervision of Dr. Usman Khalil.

 Rector UMT Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad, Dean SSSH Dr. Abdul Hameed graced the session followed by the evaluation committee members. At the end, the result was announced declaring Ms Farhat Muneer eligible to be awarded PhD degree.

 

 

 

TUV Austria awards Lucky Cement with ISO 9001:2008

LAHORE (PR): With Pakistan GDP growth reaching 6-year high of 4.1pc and expected startup of many mega infrastructure projects by the government the growth of cement industry is expected to be very promising, as it is one of the few sectors, which is complying strictly with world quality management standards.

This was observed by Rashid Mehr, the CEO TUV Austria BIC, during the award ceremony of ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Certification to the Lucky Cement Limited.

The event was held at the Corporate Head Office of TUV Austria Bureau of Inspection & Certification in Lahore where the top management of TUV Austria BIC, presented the certificate to Mr. M. Anwar Tariq, Sr. Manager P & C / ILA, Lucky Cement Limited, the country’s leading exporter of cement with production capacity of 7.75 million tons per annum.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Rashid Mehr said that cement sector’s high growth is expected due to strong revival in real-estate sector and return of various local and international developers like UAE’s Emaar.

He said that cement industry, which is producing high quality product with huge export potential, can further become cost effective by implementing international efficient quality management systems including the ISO 9001, which is also the world’s best-known quality management standard and the most widely used leadership model, based on a philosophy of continuous improvement.

“An ISO 9001 certificate indicates that your company is functioning effectively in a systematic and customer-oriented way. Yearly audits function as the basis for further development and keep the certificate valid,” he said.

He said that cement exports to India through land route can be increased fivefold in just a couple of years and leading local manufacturers having efficient plants can get most out of this promising potential due to the industry’s efficient quality management and global compliance certification.

results improved by 23%
