The overloading of public transport vehicles plying on main Sialkot-Daska-Gujranwala Road, Sialkot-Sambrial-Wazirabad Road, Sialkot-Pasrur-Narowal Road, Sialkot-Eimanabad Road, Sialkot-Saidpur-Gondal Road, Sialkot-Head Marala Road, goes unchecked and unabated, putting public lives in risk and has resulted in several fatal road accidents.

According to local traffic police officials, the patrolling police is responsible to check overloading of public transport vehicles in the district's all four Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils. But patrolling police remained unable to control the menace.

Some officials were of the view that there was a shortage of public transport vehicles plying between Sialkot City to its far-off rural areas, due to which local people belonging to rural areas were forced to travel in public transport vehicles like animals. Meanwhile, Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Senior Vice President Mian Muhammad Anwar, Sialkot District Bar Association (DBA) President Shahid Mir, Human Rights Protection Forum Sialkot Chairman Muneer Butt, PPP City President Khawaja Awais Mushtaq, Thinkers' Forum Daska Chairman Muhammad Jamil Khanna, local social, political, religious and business circles have expressed grave concern over the unchecked overloading of public transport vehicles. They urged Gujranwala Division Commissioner Khawaja Shamail Ahmed and Sialkot DCO Nadeem Sarwar to look into the matter in the larger public interest.
