ISLAMABAD - Pakistan stormed into the quarterfinals of the World Junior Squash Championship team event, after defeating Israel 3-0 to top Group-B.
They remained unbeaten in all the three matches in Namibia. Top Pakistani player Tayyab Aslam faced Denial in the first match. Tayyab won the first game 11-7 and the second game 11-6. But it was a very keen contest witnessed in the third game, as Denial fought back well but Tayyab then used his experience and managed to take the game 11-8 to give Pakistan 1-0 lead. Asim Khan played the second game against Noam Peer. Asim comfortably won the match 3-0. He won the first game 11-3, second game 11-8 and third 11-2 to win the match, thus gave Pakistan an unassailable 2-0 lead in the tie.
Ali played the third and final match against Roee Avraham which he won easily by beating his opponent 11-7, 11-6, 11-8 and helped his country finish at the top of the group.
Israel also qualified for the quarterfinals after finishing second in the group ahead of Germany and hosts Namibia. Other teams, which qualified for the quarterfinals, are Egypt and USA from Pool A, England and France form Pool C, India and Colombia from Pool D, Malaysia and Ireland from Pool E and Spain and Finland from Pool F.
