ISLAMABAD - A delegation of young students of Pakistani universities from all over the country recently visited South Korea under an exchange programme introduced by the Government of Korea in collaboration with two well-known universities of South Korea, Dongshin University and Semyong University.  Undergraduate students from 42 countries were selected to participate in this programme.

 The Pakistan students presented culture of Pakistan in South Korea. Exchange of ideas, information and participation by Pakistani delegation was highly appreciated. The delegation won the cultural night award.

 The students won people over with their performance which included dresses and dances of each province of Pakistan and were also asked to perform at the closing ceremony again.

 Hundreds of applicants applied for this programme out of which eight were selected from all over Pakistan. Shanzay Tariq from COMSATS Institute Islamabad, Asha Naveed and Aftab Ullah from GIK Institute, Khizran Atika from COMSATS Abbottabad, Momina Javed from NUML, Rehmat Ali, Bahadur Ali and Kanza Batool from NED Karachi.   The students also visited eight cities of South Korea and had a chance to interact with people from 42 different countries.  Trips included visits to the famous Hyundai company, Posco Company, Kimchi making, watching a baseball match, visiting the Seoul tower, bamboo park, home stay with a Korean family and many more.

 Informal discussions amongst students resulted in changing the general perception of Pakistani people which was that they are very hardliners and fundamentalist.

 However, by the end of the programme people from different cultures were much appreciative of friendly attitude of Pakistani delegation.
