Flood in River Sutlej have destroyed standing crops over hundreds of acres in dozens villages of the district. Currently water level is recorded 18 feet at Talwar Post and is on the decline, whereas at Head Ganda Singhwala, it has been recorded at 49,000 cusec.

The floodwater has caused devastation in more than 30 villages.

Rescue 1122 is busy with helping out the affectees and the provincial authority is asking people, living in low-lying areas to shift to safer places. However, many families are still reluctant to evacuate their homes.

According to Kasur DCO Adnan Arshad Aulakh, relief camps have been set up at 14 places and leaves of the government employees have been cancelled. Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Health, Livestock and other departments have been put high alert to cope with the emergency, the DCO said.

However, people complained that the administration do not provide boat service at dawn and dusk due to which people, on the other side of the river, are facing shortage of food and drinking water.

They also complained that neither their animals are being vaccinated nor any medical facility is being provided to the ailing people.
