RAJANPUR - Three members of a family were gunned down and five others sustained critical injuries over a love-marriage dispute here on Thursday.
The police said that the incident occurred in Barsa Abad area, suburbs of Rajanpur, when dozens of armed men of a girl Amna’s family attacked the house of a youth Bilawal.
The police said that Bilawal, a resident of Barsa Abad married Amna against the will of her family. The marriage locked both families in enmity which led to the incident.
The police said that about 25 armed men from rival family attacked the house of Bilawal and resorted to indiscriminate fire on the family members.
As a result, three persons died on the spot while five others sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where condition of one of them is stated to be in a critical. The police have registered a case and started further investigation.
