LAHORE - PPP Senator Aitzaz Ahsan said Thursday that terms of reference (ToRs) were not made due to the ruling party which had majority in the National Assembly that cast doubts that there was something wrong on the part of prime minister’s family.

Talking to reporters at Lahore High Court Bar Association, Aitzaz Ahsan said disagreement of PML-N leadership regarding making ToRs cast many doubts. He said role of the opposition was to exert maximum political pressure on the government for a workable draft of the ToRs.

“Had a son of a businessman involved in offshore companies’ scandal, all the government agencies and anti-corruption institutions would have come into action without wasting a minute,” Aitzaz was of the view.

He further stated that Panama leaks issue was like a bell around the neck of PML-N that would continue to ring. Pointing out a reference for disqualification of the prime minister filed by PPP before the Election Commission of Pakistan, Aitzaz said noose was being tightened around the neck of PML-N.

Answering a question, he denied his meeting with any ruling party leader on ToRs except the National Assembly speaker who, according to him, was the custodian of the lower house and not a representative of the government. The government had been trying to divide opposition, he added.
