Rawalpindi-Rawal Town Municipal Administration (RTMA) TMO Mir Akmal urged the departments to speed up indoor surveillance to control outbreak of dengue in the town.

He said that the desiring results only could be achieved through collective efforts by all the departments engaged in dengue eradication campaign.

“The Punjab government has been providing all the possible sources to TMAs to get rid of dengue,” he said while chairing a meeting here yesterday. The meeting was also attended by Town Officer Infrastructure and Services Rafaqat Gondal, officials of health, evacuee, social welfare, information, WAPDA and railway departments.

Addressing the meeting, TMO Mir Akmal said that the officials should maintain the proper figures of indoor and outdoor surveillance so that the outbreak of dengue could be stopped. He urged the field staff to impart duties with commitment and dedication. “All the officers should also monitor the work of the staff on daily basis,” Mir Akmal said adding that the evacuee department officials should improve their performance. On the occasion, TMO was briefed by heads of departments about dengue surveillance.

On the other hand, as many as 39 dengue larvas were detected in Cantt and garrison city by the special inspection teams of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board while visiting some 1952 houses. Cases were registered against the owners of the houses from where dengue larva found by teams.
