LAHORE - Two-time Oscar winner Pakistani filmmaker of international repute, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy met Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif yesterday, and appreciated the revolutionary steps Punjab government has taken for the welfare and empowerment of the women.

Chinoy, who focused the women plight in Pakistan in her documentaries which won her Oscar, appreciated the solid steps of Punjab government taken for the progress and empowerment of women.

On the occasion, the chief minister said that Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has win laurels for the country and the nation by winning Oscar award twice by making excellent documentary films. “Winning Oscar award twice by a Pakistani filmmaker is an honour for the country,” he added.

Shehbaz said that Pakistani women are talented who have proved their worth in all sectors. He further urged the women to display their capabilities in practical field for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

Besides empowerment of women, their protection is also necessary for the development and prosperity of Pakistan, he added.
