Saeed Anwar Junior (79) and Sohail Maqsood (71) guided KRL to claim big win in the prestigious national cricket event. Saeed hit nine fours and three big six during his innings as he faced 122 balls while Sohail wasted just 87 balls for his 71 runs. He hit 11 fours and a six. The win was imminent for Lahore because Islamabad was reeling at 225 for eight on day three in their followed-on innings and they (the visiting) just managed to bring Lahore in for batting by going beyond their total. Lahore in their first innings made 448 and Islamabad replied with 145 and 326 in their respective innings. Their overnight players Kamran Hussain and Rauf Akbar were holding the fort and managed to take the total from 225 to 326. When Junaid Zia bowled Kamran for 64 for his third wicket, Islamabads runs flow also stopped and their last batsman Narrullah Khan too went back for a one ball duck while Akbar remained not out for 12. The highlight of the final days play of the match was fine batting of Karachi Whites Mohtashsim Ali, who slammed 95 before the match, ended in favour of his team. After bowling the opponents out for 293 in the first innings and 182 in the second, Karachi Whites raced to the winning target losing just three wickets. The team ended their second innings at 223 for three. Afsar Nawaz remained unbeaten 74. Karachi Whites had scored 253 in first knock. Other highlights of the four-day contest were fine batting of Rizwan Ahmed of SSGC who got 113 in first effort and was unbeaten 92 in the second.
