NOWSHERA - At least 18 people including three security personnel sustained minor injuries when two assailants riding a motorcycle hurled a hand-grenade at an army facility here on Tuesday. As per details, attackers hurled a hand-grenade when candidates, waiting for their clearance, had queued up for recruitment outside Gate No.3 of Risalpur Cantonment in the morning.As the candidates were awaiting their turn, motorcyclists appeared on the scene and threw a grenade on the people gathered there. As a result of which 18 people including three security personnel were injured. The wounded were shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Risalpur, while others were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital Nowshera. Hospitals sources said injured were out of danger. The wounded were identified as Akbar Khan, Pervaiz, Amjad, Mir Hussain, Arif, Abdullah, Aurangzeb, Ziauddin, Ismail, Ahmad, Amir Shehzad, Irfanullah, Ziaur Rehman, Bin Ameen, Gulzaib, Liaquat, Nasir and Aqib. The attackers fled from the scene after committing the crime. Police and security personnel cordoned off the area and started a search operation to arrest the perpetrators. Police sources said those hurt in the blast had minor injuries. They said the attack happened on the Nowshera-Mardan Grand Truck Road (GT Road) as the assailants could not infiltrate into the facility. Gate No 3 is the main gate of Risalpur Cantonment where Engineering Branch of Army and Pakistan Air Force Academy is located. The attackers could not enter the Cantonment due to tight security.
