Compensation for pilgrims’ losses




ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Religious Affairs will compensate pilgrims against the losses such as death, road accident and emergency evacuation due to illness, a press statement said on Tuesday.
It said compensation would be provided as per the Hajj Policy 2012, under the Hujjaj Mohafiz scheme, adding that the claims might be submitted to the ministry’s Hajj Section along with necessary documents related to the aforesaid happening(s).  According to the statement, a sum of Rs0.3 million will be given to family of a deceased, who died due to a natural cause, road accident, suffocation or stampede; and Rs50,000 will be given for an accidental disablement resulting in the loss of one limb, while Rs0.1 million for permanent disablement of more than one limb. Pilgrims, who were repatriated or evacuated in emergency due to illness, would get Rs0.275 million as compensation, added the statement.
