Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock (FPCAL) Faqeer Nusrat Hussain claimed that Asia, especially the Islamic countries will face food security issues in the future. He informed that the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) would spend huge amount to introduce Internet Linkage between Islamic Countries keep sharing of information related to food and agricultural products and its trade on a daily basis.

FPCAL Secretary General Faqeer Nasrat Hussain made the remarks while addressing a ceremony at Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry here the other day. He stated that there would be food security issues in future in Asia and especially in Islamic countries. He informed that Pakistan Federation of Chambers of Agriculture and Livestock would organise a three-day exhibition at Muscat, Oman from Jan 21,2013 where the agriculture produces through tunnel farming including vegetables, flowers, fresh fruits, dry fruits and chilled meat would be put on display.

He informed that they would also organise such exhibitions in February in Indonesia and in March in Sri Lanka. Faqeer Nusrat urged upon the farmers to grow quality agricultural products to earn handsome return in shape of foreign exchange. He stated that there were huge potential in different vegetable and fruits markets of Muslim countries.

On the occasion, local progressive farmers, breeders and industrialists demanded creation of export processing unit in Bahawalpur to facilitate traders of South Punjab.

They also called for organising International Agri Festivals in Multan and Bahawalpur to attract foreign investors to boost local agriculture and livestock sector. Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Vice President Iftikhar Ameen, Secretary General Jameel Arshid, Dr Rana Tariq, President Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock Syed Fida Hussain Shah, Vice chairman PCG Bahawalpur circuit Naveed Arshid, Progressive farmer Azra Shiekh and others participated in the programme.

Cop perished:  A cop died in a road accident near Salam Interchange at Motorway here the other day.

Sub-Inspector Ameer Jaspal posted in Cant Police Station Sargodha was returning form Lahore. When reached near Salam Interchange, a speeding coach hit the car.

 As a result, he died due to fatal injuries.
