PESHAWAR - The activists of Tehafuz Haqooq-i-Chitral Organisation Tuesday held a protest demonstration against the closure of Lowari Tunnel here at Sher Shah Suri Road outside press club, and demanded to keep tunnel open on daily basis.

The demonstrators led by the Chairman of the Organisation, Sadiq Ameen, general secretary Shakirud Din and other leader were holding placards and banner inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands and against the incumbent government. They also chanted full-throated slogans against the PPP-led government and federal minister for Communication.

Addressing the protestors, Ameen said alleged that the existing rulers were badly failed to deliver by minimizing the hardships confronting Chitrali people, and now trying to deceive masses by restoring ‘so-called construction work’ on the project. This is a political show-off of the incumbent rulers to close the Lowari Tunnel for passengers in the name of construction work.

Amin further said that when work was halted on the project and its funds were transferred to other constituencies these elected representatives and minister concerned were become silent spectators, and now when elections came nearer government restored work on the project. These corrupt rulers could not turn the masses fool anymore, as they know the reality of the existing rulers, he maintained, and vowed that further exploitation of Chitrali people would not be tolerated.

He asked the government and authorities concerned to revise the schedule traffic plan for Lawari tunnel and stop multiplying miseries of Chitrali people.
