PESHAWAR - The disgruntled workers of Pakistan People’s Party have criticised the central and provincial leaders for ignoring ideological workers, and urged them to award party tickets only to ideological workers for the upcoming general elections.
They expressed their reservations during a seminar organized by PPP Ittihad Workers Union here at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday. Speakers were included, Nazneen Badshah, Fazal Wahid, Haji Iftikhar, Maulana Habibul Rahman, Haji Waseemullah, Noor Zameen, Wali Babar, Muhammad Riaz, Nadeem Khan and others.
The party leaders, he blamed were failed to resolve problems despite rising issues several time at provincial and central level. They said the ideological workers have no respect in the party, because they are believed in policy of selection.
They informed the PPP provincial president Anwar Saifullah Khan had promised that he would take worker Ittihad union before formation of provincial and district cabinet of the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. But, they said he didn’t honor his commitment and unilateral decision was taken in this regard.
The speakers said that the policy was tantamount to deprive workers from their right. “We are not against the party elected representatives”, they remarked. They said that the workers were joining other parties due to wrong policies of party leadership at centre and provincial level. “We didn’t stop them to not join other political, parties because of present indifferent attitude of leadership”, they added. They said that the party elected representatives had been given doubled charges in party along with running other affairs their respected ministries, which was totally unjust with the ideological workers.
The participants demanded for awarding party tickets to ideological workers in the next general elections and also adopt the policy of elections in the party instead of following selection.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Village Development Programme (PVDP) with the assistance of Irish Donour Trocaire launched Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) awareness campaign in the flood-affected union council, Mohib Banda, district Nowshera.
In this connection, the non-governmental organization distributed 1050 radio sets in the inhabitants of the five villages of the union council.
The villages are included Banda Sheikh Ismail, Mian Gaan, Momin Ghari and Camp Koroona.
The radio set distribution ceremony was held at the residence of the chairman, union council committee under the supervision of its members.
Talking to this scribe, Imran Iqbal, a senior official of PVDP said that half of the radio sets would be given to women. He said that the radio sets would be given to those residents, which could gather at least 20-25 persons for the hearing of the radio programmes especially prepared for this purpose.
The titles of the programs to broadcast on the radio through Dilbar Radio have been identified as Community Based Disaster Reduction, First-aid and Research & Rescue operations. During the programme, direct telephonic calls could also be made.
The programmes will be broadcasted on bi-weekly basis and first program of the nature will go on air on December 26, 2012 followed two such other programs on January 9 and 23, 2013.
