LAHORE – Punjab University Institute of Communications Studies and Pakistan American Democratic Forum (PADF) jointly organised a seminar on Tuesday.

While speaking at a seminar, the panel of Pakistani and American peace activists, which included Hon Cynthia McKinney, the six-term US Congresswoman, Sara Flounders, the co-founder of International Action Center, Dr Ahsan Akthar Naz, Brig. RiazToor, Raja Asad Ali Khan, Dr Fauzia Siddiqui and Dr Bushra H Rehman unanimously hoped that there was a small window of opportunity for negotiating Dr Aafia’s release.

The topic of the seminar was “Role of South East Asia’s media and violation of Human right In United states of America”. The message of Chairman PADF Dr Agha Khalid Saeed was also read out by Dr Fauzia Siddiqui.

The panel was unanimous in asserting that “General Musharraf’s Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri had recently confessed the complicity of the Musharraf regime in kidnapping and handing over Dr Aafia to the US government, and had apologised for his own involvement in this abominable act, stating that he was sorry for handing over the innocent Aafia to the Americans.

The penal recommended that the PM must send a letter to President Obama and launch a fresh, multi-pronged, diplomatic initiative to negotiate Aafia’s release.

The panel demanded Pakistan’s ambassador Sherry Rahman be instructed to hold a major press conference at the Pakistani embassy to announce the new initiative based on new evidence, and who should also convene a meeting of all major Pakistani American organisations.

The panel appealed to Pakistani-American organizations, to organize teach-in at the twenty major US campuses and weekly vigils outside the White House.
