ISLAMABAD – Maulana Rumi a famous Persian poet was given rich tribute for his unique wealth of literary work self-realization, and motivation at an exclusive gathering held on the occasion of a “Tribute to Rumi” at Chaaye Khana.

Professor Dr. Aziz Ali, Vice Chancellor of Karakoram International University Gilgit-Baltistan an avid follower of Rumi and Iqbal’s teachings shared some of Rumi’s famous poems with the enthralled audience comprising intellectuals, policymakers, bureaucrats, executives of private sectors and a big segment of youth

He highlighted that Rumi believed passionately in the use of music, poetry and dance as a path for reaching God. For Rumi, music helped devotees to focus their whole being on the divine and to do this so intensely that the soul was both destroyed and resurrected. It was from these ideas that the practice of whirling dervishes developed into a ritual form. Rumi encouraged Sama, listening to music and turning or doing the sacred dance.
