The Sialkot police have busted four inter-district gangs of cattle thieves and have arrested 34 members, claimed the district police officer.
He also claimed a visible decline in heinous crimes in Sialkot district during the last two months. Muhammad Gohar Nafees disclosed this while talking to the media. He revealed that the police had recovered 41 stolen and snatched buffaloes, two cows, 23 goats and lambs and other cattle worth of Rs7.1 million from the accused, besides, recovering three trucks used in loading and unloading the stolen cattle.
The police nabbed the accused from Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Lahore, Sialkot and Narowal. The accused have confessed their direct and indirect involvement in 27 cases of cattle theft, he added. The DPO said that the police had also smashed eight inter-district gangs of dacoits and robbers namely Bilal alias Bilali Gang, Suhail Nadeem alias Suhaila Gang, Jamil alias Jeela Gang, Waqas alias Waqasa Gang, Riaz alias Riaju Gang, Rizwan alias Chand Gang, Sultan alias Sultana Gang and Abdullah Gang. It arrested 127 proclaimed offender of A category and 369 POs of B category, as these accused had become a sign of terror in Daska region, he said.
Police also unearthed seven working distilleries, and recovered five illegal rifles, 2 guns, 45 pistols, 126 bottles of wine, 9.5 kg Charas worth millions of rupees and 560 grams heroin from these accused.
Earlier, SP Investigation Sialkot Asad Sarfraz Khan handed over the recovered luggage to the actual owners during a special ceremony held there at the lawns of the Sialkot DPO Office. the DPO also announced appreciation certificates and cash prizes for the raiding police teams.
