KASUR-Police have performed their best to eradicate crime from Kasur district and over the past two-and a half months, hundreds of outlaws wanted in heinous crimes have been rounded up.
This was stated by Kasur DPO Zulfiqar Ahmed during a media talk here the other day. He said since his posting as DPO in the district, police have succeeded in arresting 76 members of 22 dacoit gangs. Police recovered booty and illegal arms from their possession. Their arrest helped police disposing of at least 110 old and new cases.
Besides, police arrested 589 proclaimed offenders and 318 court absconders, the DPO said, adding that five outlaws had been eliminated in different shootouts with police. They were wanted by police of different districts in dacoity and murder like heinous crimes.
Moreover, police arrested 419 people for possessing illegal arms and recovered 11 Kalashnikovs, 11 rifles, 82 guns, 316 pistols and seven carbines. During a crackdown on drug-peddlers, police arrested 419 suspects and recovered 124kg of hashish, 5042 litres of liquor, 780 litres of lahen and 21 active furnaces of liquor. Under the Nation Action Plan (NAP), police conducted 283 search operations and registered 47 cases for violation of Security Ordinance, 63 for violation of Amplifier Act, 91 cases against tenants and 63 for display of arms in public. At least 133 gamblers were also booked and were put behind bars.
The DPO claimed that there is witnessed a significant decrease in crimes due to effective steps taken by police for peace in the district.

The recruitment process of constables in district police is underway here. The process is being monitored by DIG Moeen Masood and Kasur DPO Zulfiqar Ahmed. A total of 2,503 applicants - 2,365 male and 138 female - have applied for the posts of constables. Their physical tests would be completed in two days.
Addressing the applicants, DIG Masood and DPO Zulfiqar said that constables are being recruited in police purely on merit. "One will face the music if he tries to get into through unlawful means," they warned.
They said video of the applicants' physical tests is being shot. Similarly, biometric verification of their identity is also being done to ensure transparency in selection process.
